Not so fast? The return of CM Punk has changed the world of WWE in a variety of ways. Punk being back has fans wondering what he could be doing and whom he could be facing. That opens up a variety of options and there have been rumors of potential major feuds for Punk in the near and long term. However, one of the biggest matches might not be as close as it seems.

Earlier this week, a report said that some in WWE was pushing for a Punk vs. Steve Austin match at some point in the future and that there was progression on the match taking place. However, according to Wrestling Observer Radio, the match is “not anything that anyone’s talked about to any degree” and that Austin has not been approached for the match. Austin could agree to the match if asked, but nothing has been set so far. There is no word on when the match could be taking place, if it does.

Opinion: This is something that does hit the bakes on the idea a bit, but there isn’t a no in there. Punk vs. Austin is something of a dream match and they certainly have a natural rivalry. The talking alone could be great and Austin has shown that he can still do it in a one off spot. We could be in for something special if that is where they go, and hopefully they do just that.
