WWE has officially announced a new match for the upcoming Survivor Series 2023 premium live event. This announcement comes after an injury angle was run on the recent episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, as reported by Fightful Select.
During the show, Santos Escobar viciously attacked Carlito both at ringside and backstage, causing a significant arm injury. However, Dragon Lee came to Carlito’s aid during the second backstage attack, leading to an interesting turn of events.
Later in the program, WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis confirmed in an interview with Kayla Braxton that the originally planned Carlito-Santos bout for Survivor Series 2023 has been postponed due to Carlito’s injury.
Dragon Lee took the opportunity to approach General Manager Aldis and pleaded for the chance to fill in for Carlito. He expressed his desire to seek revenge on Santos for his brutal assault on WWE Hall of Fame legend Rey Mysterio, who is a hero to Dragon Lee.
Aldis agreed to the bout change, and the updated official lineup for Survivor Series 2023 was later confirmed by Michael Cole, Kevin Patrick, and Corey Graves during the show. The event is set to take place at the AllState Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.
With this new development, Dragon Lee will now face Santos Escobar at Survivor Series 2023. This match promises to be a heated and personal encounter, as Dragon Lee seeks retribution for the attack on his idol, Rey Mysterio.
