Impact Wrestling has announced that Eric Young and Deaner will face off in a No DQ match at Emergence. The match was set up during the go-home show for Emergence, where Deaner defeated The Laredo Kid. After the match, Deaner took the mic and declared that he would finally put an end to his story with Young at Emergence. Kon will be in Deaner’s corner for the match.
The feud between Young and Deaner dates back to late 2022 when Deaner decided to end what he called “the sickness” of The Design. However, Young made a surprise return to Impact at Slammiversary this year, and the storyline was that he barely survived the violent attack by Deaner. Young teamed up with Scott D’Amore at Slammiversary to defeat Deaner and Impact Hall of Famer Bully Ray.
Since then, Deaner has been obsessed with taking out his former leader, and Emergence will be his last chance to do so. Young has had only two matches since returning to Impact. He defeated Nick Aldis on the July 27 episode but was attacked by The Design after the match. He also defeated Kon by DQ on the August 17 episode due to interference by Deaner.
Young and Deaner have a history of working together, with 13 matches under their belt since December 2009. However, Emergence will only be their second singles bout. Their first match took place on the December 8, 2020 episode of Impact, where Young emerged victorious.
The 2023 Impact Emergence special is set to take place this Sunday, August 27, at the Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Fans can catch the action live on Impact Plus, YouTube for Ultimate Insiders members, and FITE. Here is the updated card for the event:
