Ava’s solo wrestling journey is gaining momentum!

Filed under:

Simone Johnson, also known as Ava in the wrestling world, is set to make her TV singles debut in WWE NXT. The 22-year-old daughter of legendary wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will face off against Ivy Nile on the special Heatwave episode of NXT on August 22.

Ava, who is part of the Schism faction, has previously participated in two televised and two untelevised mixed tag matches. However, it seems that the NXT team led by Shawn Michaels believes she is ready to take the next step in her career.

Before her highly anticipated TV debut, Ava had the opportunity to showcase her skills in a match against Ivy Nile at one of WWE’s Florida house shows. The match took place on August 19 in Tampa, with Ava emerging victorious with the assistance of Joe Gacy.

While details about the match are scarce, it is worth noting that Ava has not had many opportunities to shine in her previous mixed tag matches. Therefore, it is unlikely that the match in Tampa or the upcoming TV match will be lengthy affairs.

Nevertheless, fans are eager to see how Ava performs at Heatwave and if she can live up to the expectations set by her famous father. The Rock, who initially faced rejection from the audience as Rocky Maivia, has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on the wrestling industry. However, WWE has wisely positioned Ava as a heel, potentially shielding her from any overt rejection.
