WWE Urged to Exercise Patience with LA Knight, Allowing Him to Flourish as Future Main Event Star

Eric Bischoff Discusses WWE’s Future Plans for LA Knight

Professional wrestling veteran Eric Bischoff recently shared his thoughts on the latest episode of his podcast, 83 Weeks Podcast. During the episode, Bischoff discussed what WWE should do with LA Knight following his victory in the Slim Jim Battle Royal at SummerSlam and his subsequent feud with The Miz.

Bischoff praised the use of the Slim Jim Battle Royal as a vehicle to elevate LA Knight. He noted that while he found the match to be clunky and awkward until the final four participants, it ultimately achieved its goal of getting LA Knight over with the audience.

“I think using it as a vehicle for LA Knight was absolutely done to perfection as far as the match itself goes,” Bischoff said. “The action sucks. Just get me to the finish. You know, get me to the last two minutes. ‘Cause that’s all that matters to me. I sat painfully through the majority of it. What did 12 minutes get? I sat painfully through 10 and I got interested in the last two and thought it was a great job. Great job getting LA Knight over.”

When discussing what WWE should do next with LA Knight, Bischoff emphasized the importance of not rushing his ascent to the main event scene. Drawing from his experience in the industry, Bischoff highlighted the need to ensure that the audience is truly invested in a wrestler’s character before pushing them into a top spot.

“I think there’s a feeling in WWE that you don’t rush. Don’t go too fast because going too fast can ruin it,” Bischoff explained. “I think the timing is such in WWE that he’ll move along quicker than perhaps he would have a couple of years ago… Put the belt on him right away, make him a world champion. And then what bitches, then what, where does he go from there downhill. That’s where he goes from there. Let him grow into that role.”

Bischoff also took the opportunity to criticize social media wrestling fans who demand instant success for wrestlers without considering the long-term implications. He praised WWE’s approach of forcing the audience to demand a wrestler’s rise to the top, citing the example of Cody Rhodes as a success story.

“That’s called getting someone over, you morons. That’s how it’s done,” Bischoff said. “And man, why not just sit back and enjoy the ride for however long the ride lasts instead of getting to the destination and not knowing where to go next? That’s internet booking. That’s why internet booking doesn’t work, because you’re reacting to what the internet wants and what the internet says.”

While Bischoff acknowledged that he does not have any inside information on WWE’s plans for LA Knight, he expressed confidence in the company’s ability to handle his trajectory effectively.
