AEW Dynamite Recap: MJF and Adam Cole Steal the Show

AEW Dynamite delivered another action-packed episode on August 9th, 2023, with several standout moments. The show opened with the JAS Mandatory meeting, minus Chris Jericho, who was absent due to his alliance with Don Callis. The opening segment showcased the passion and intensity of each member of the JAS faction.
Throughout the night, MJF and Adam Cole proved why they are two of the most captivating performers in professional wrestling. Their backstage segment at a trampoline park was both entertaining and hilarious. MJF’s dodgeball skills and AC’s high jumps added an element of fun to the show.
The Young Bucks faced off against The Hardys in a highly anticipated match. This encounter allowed both teams to showcase their skills and pay homage to their wrestling idols. The Young Bucks emerged victorious, setting the stage for a future showdown with FTR.
The main event featured Hikaru Shida defending her championship against Anna Jay. Despite some interference from 2.0, Shida managed to retain her title. This match, while solid, suffered from the excessive use of heel shenanigans throughout the night.
However, the standout moments of the night belonged to MJF and Adam Cole. Their promo battle, which led to a tag team match against Aussie Open, was a highlight of the show. The chemistry between MJF and AC was undeniable, and their comedic timing was on point.
AEW Dynamite also featured other notable moments, such as Roderick Strong aligning with MJF and Adam Cole, and Sting making a surprise appearance to confront Swerve. These segments added intrigue to ongoing storylines and left fans eagerly anticipating future developments.
Despite the show’s highlights, there were some shortcomings. The excessive use of recaps and the disjointed nature of the show made it feel less cohesive. Additionally, the reliance on heel shenanigans throughout the night became repetitive and predictable.
Overall, AEW Dynamite delivered an entertaining show with standout performances from MJF and Adam Cole. Their charisma and in-ring ability continue to elevate the product. While the show had its flaws, it still provided fans with exciting moments and furthered ongoing storylines.
