Gable teamed up with Otis to face Erik and Ivar, also known as the Viking Raiders, in a match that aired on the July 17 episode of WWE Raw. However, Gable disclosed that the match had its time cut, which is not an uncommon occurrence in the world of live TV shows like professional wrestling.
“We had our time allotted, and we knew what we had, and it got cut, like so often happens with what we do. It’s a live TV show, this stuff happens. You’re always prepared for that going in,” said Gable during the interview.
Despite the time constraint, Gable remained professional and determined to deliver the best performance possible. He expressed his commitment to sticking with the original plan for the match, stating, “We won’t be unprofessional and steal other people’s time, but we’re going to do what we planned because this is awesome and people deserve to see this.”
Gable also acknowledged the storytelling elements leading up to the match, where he and his partner had to fit a lot of information into short backstage segments. He believed that their hard work and dedication had earned them the right to showcase their artistry in the ring.
“We deserved it, and I felt like we earned the right to do all of our art that night and deliver the masterpiece we got in eight minutes of Raw. I think we did it. It was a moment where I was like, ‘We’re not going to get rid of anything or change anything, let’s just do it.’ It worked out,” Gable explained.
Gable’s revelation about the time cut in the Viking Raiders match provides a glimpse into the challenges faced by professional wrestlers on live TV shows. Despite the unexpected change, Gable and Otis managed to adapt and deliver a memorable performance within the given time frame.
