A war that also includes his Best Friends and Death Triangle, and seems likely to give us some title matches over the next few months.
The world of professional wrestling is heating up with a war brewing between Orange Cassidy, Jon Moxley, and Blackpool Combat Club. This intense rivalry has also involved Best Friends and Death Triangle, making it a multifaceted battle that is sure to provide some exciting title matches in the coming months.
The latest development in this war came from the main event of the July 26 episode of Dynamite, which was set up by events at the recent ROH Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view. PAC walked out on Blackpool Combat Club during their Blood & Guts match against The Elite, leading to tensions between the factions.
At Death Before Dishonor, Best Friends and Lucha Bros faced off in a Ring of Honor Tag title match. Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, and Chuck Taylor got involved when Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo came to PAC’s aid after his match with Claudio Castagnoli was interfered with by Wheeler Yuta of Blackpool Combat Club. The chaos continued on Dynamite, as Jon Moxley attacked Cassidy after his International title defense against AR Fox.
Meanwhile, Blackpool Combat Club was also scouting PAC’s match with Gravity on the same episode of Dynamite.
The main event of the night featured a tag team match that pitted Moxley and Castagnoli against Beretta and Taylor, and Fenix and Penta. The match was as chaotic as expected, with Lucha Bros initially having the upper hand against Best Friends until Blackpool Combat Club intervened. Orange Cassidy made a surprise appearance, taking out Yuta and then facing off against Moxley. However, the pinfall by Trent Beretta on Claudio Castagnoli was rendered invalid since Castagnoli was not the legal man.
In the midst of the confusion, Penta ultimately pinned Beretta. As tensions escalated and an Anything Goes match between Penta, Beretta, and Moxley was announced for the following week’s Dynamite, more questions arose. Is Moxley targeting Cassidy’s belt? Will Orange go after Claudio’s ROH World title? And where does PAC fit into all of this?
As the weeks unfold, we will surely find answers to these questions. With upcoming events like All In, All Out, and Grand Slam, AEW has plenty of opportunities to showcase matches involving these three teams.
